Toni & Mal’s Fremantle Wedding at The Old Courthouse ✨

Last week, I had the absolute joy of capturing Toni and Mal’s intimate winter wedding at one of the most charming Fremantle wedding venuesThe Old Courthouse.

Not only was this my first time photographing a wedding at The Old Courthouse Fremantle, but it also quickly became a new favourite. Think: rich Victorian architecture, soft natural light, and elegant heritage decor. Honestly, it’s giving all the romantic Perth wedding venue vibes. Making it the perfect backdrop for a cozy Fremantle winter wedding.

A Bit About The Old Courthouse 💒

Originally built in the 1850s by convicts (yep, seriously!), The Old Courthouse is a fascinating and significant part of Fremantle’s story. Over the years, it has been thoughtfully restored and transformed into a beautiful modern eatery and event space — and now, it has become one of the most sought-after wedding venues Fremantle WA has to offer.

So, if you’re looking for a Fremantle wedding location with heritage charm, stylish interiors, and a warm, romantic atmosphere — this one truly ticks all the boxes.

The Winter Wedding Vibe in Fremantle ❄️

Although the day started with a bit of classic winter drizzle, Toni and Mal clearly had the weather gods on speed dial. Thankfully, the skies cleared, and we ventured out for some relaxed, candid portraits around Fremantle.

We wandered through some of the couple’s favourite Fremantle locations, capturing spontaneous, joy-filled moments along the way — exactly how I love to shoot. No awkward posing, just real smiles, windblown hair, and the kind of laughter that makes your cheeks hurt.

Without a doubt, winter weddings have their own special kind of magic — especially when set against the charming backdrop of Fremantle. Nestled along the Western Australian coast, Fremantle is known for its vibrant culture, historic architecture, and postcard-worthy views.

When the chill of winter rolls in, this coastal town transforms into a cozy, romantic wonderland. Plus, those soft, overcast skies? Absolute chef’s kiss for wedding photos. Natural, diffused lighting brings out the rich tones and soft shadows — ideal for my dark and dreamy style.

Why I Love a Fremantle Wedding

There’s something magical about a Fremantle wedding in winter. The streets are quieter and the colours are richer. As a Perth wedding photographer, I’m constantly inspired by the textures, tones, and energy of wedding venues in Fremantle.

From cobbled laneways and rustic brick walls to seaside views and tucked-away courtyards, Fremantle wedding locations are a dream for storytelling-style photography. Honestly, we are spoiled for choice when it comes to wedding venues in Fremantle and interesting backdrops. Better yet, there’s plenty of covered archways and heritage buildings making Fremantle the perfect location for winter wedding portraits. And let’s be real — is there anything more romantic than strolling through the streets of Fremantle, hand-in-hand under an umbrella?

Toni & Mal — What a Day 💛

Toni and Mal, thank you from the bottom of my heart for letting me be part of your beautiful day. It was relaxed, full of love, and honestly such a vibe. Between the happy tears, the belly laughs, and the flowing champagne it was definitely a day to remember.

You two were an absolute dream. I wish you a lifetime of joy, adventures, and spontaneous kitchen slow dances. 🕺💃
